Microsoft Certification on SharePoint 2010

I believe that the design of those certification exams are pretty much “scientifically coherent” with some sort of “logic intuition.”

For example, a question like this one:

Which components should typically be deployed to the Bin folder? (Each correct answer presents part of the solution. Choose two):

  1. Web Parts
  2. Workflows
  3. Controls
  4. Feature receivers

The question needs two answers in tandem. But first we need to realize that Bin folder hosts components for sandbox solutions, that might not directly determine our choices for the tandem answer but just keep it in mind. Then, consider a choice of Workflows; Workflows usually associate with workflow activities that could be complied into an assembly and deployed to Bin folder. Anyhow, there is no matching part that can be picked as the second choice. We can eliminate Workflows safely.

And, if you know that, workflows should be eliminated quickly since it typically deployed to the GAC with full trust, not Bin folder in partial trust.

Second, we think of Feature receivers. However, same token as we’ve just had for Workflows, there is no matching of the second part, and workflows, web parts, and controls are all not possible to match with Feature receivers working in tandem. This choice can be eliminated as well.

Finally, we pick Web Parts and Controls. Intuitively, A visual web part can be deployed into Bin folder as a sandbox solution; The visual part of a visual web part is about an ASP.Net User Control, so Controls logically become the second part of the choice to answer the question.

Because the exam is designed so logically coherent with this part of Microsoft technologies in SharePoint 2010. One has two or three years working experience with SharePoint Object Model shouldn’t have much trouble to get it passed and certified.

I have been working with Microsoft technologies for more than 15 years, and it just took me about 5 nights, total 10-15 hours of doing practice exams, to have one of those exams (70-573) passed.

The practice exam I used is from Transcender. There is other vendor named “MeasureUp“ produces products we can choose from.

Well, since Microsoft has so restrict standards to follow logically guiding their creativity and producing their wonderful products, the exams are designed to reflect this logic coherence. Intuitively, it is easy for me to understand their logic and follow the same pattern, the questions in the exam will be certainly matching my knowledge.

So if I can do it, you can do it, too!
